A Careful Soul
A careful soul I have to be,
A little Girl Scout follows me.
To a narrow path I must stay,
For if I don't, she too, will stray.
I must choose my deeds with care.
For all I do, she too, will dare.
My words I guard and softly speak
And I must love the strong and the weak.
Oh, I must be fair, from the start.
And boldly lead with a steady heart.
In all I say and all I do.
I promise to strive to be true.
Because you know......
Where're I go........
A careful soul I have to be.
A little Girl Scout follows me!
A PRAYER FOR THE CHILDREN
We pray for the Children
who sneak popsicles before supper,
who erase holes in math workbooks,
who can never find their shoes.
And we pray for those
who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,
who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers,
who never "counted potatoes,"
who are born in places where we wouldn't be caught dead,
who never go to the circus,
who live in an X-rated world.
We pray for children
who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions,
who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money.
And we pray for those
who never get dessert,
who have no safe blanket to drag behind them,
who watch their parents watch them die,
who can't find any bread to steal,
who don't have any rooms to clean up,
whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser,
whose monsters are real.
We pray for children
who spend all their allowance before Tuesday,
who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food,
who like ghost stories, who shove dirty clothes under the bed,
who never rinse out the tub,
who get visits from the tooth fairy,
who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool,
who squirm in church or temple and scream in the phone,
whose tears we sometimes laugh at and
whose smiles can make us cry.
And we pray for those
whose nightmares come in the daytime,
who will eat anything,
who have never seen a dentist,
who aren't spoiled by anybody,
who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep,
who live and move, but have no being.
We pray for children
who want to be carried and for those who must,
who we never give up on
and for those who don't get a second chance.
For those we smother and . . .
for those who will grab the hand of anybody
kind enough to offer it.

A Night's Prayer
by Shorty
I wished upon a star one eve
That I could be with you
And in my dreams that very night
My silent prayers came true
We met upon a sandy beach
Both looking out to sea
So very far away from home
In a place we'd rather be
Not a word was spoken
As we walked along the sand
I looked deep in to your warm eyes
As we took eachother's hands
And in this way we continued on
Until the stars faded from the sky
Slowly we released our grasp
For the night's hours had gone by
And when it came time for us to part
I fet a sudden comfortness
Locked deep within my heart
So now upon each and every night
Before I drift off to sleep
I say a prayer to the bright stars
A little wish to keep
To walk upon a lonely beach
Facing towards the sea
In a place where my heart knows
You'll be waiting there for me
A BIRTHDAY POEM
by VANESSA WARD
Our Birthday comes once a year
creeping up on us, we all cheer
We all enjoy this special day
and celebrate it, our own way
A beautiful Birthday wish for you
and all your dreams become real too
Now is the time, to ask for your dreams
this day is lucky, so it seems
Another year, crept up on you
not just a year older, but wiser too!
God placed his hand upon our shoulder
our health and life, God is the holder
Ask your wish, it may come true
I know at our age, it's definitely due
Close your eyes, wish good and hard
I hope you enjoy your Birthday card..
A BIRTHDAY WISH
by LaShawn Brooks
Today is your birthday,my lover and bestfriend.
I wish that we could have been together,
But,just know that this isn't the end.
So,go about your day... as it should be,
And know that "Lil'Mama",will always love thee.
Even if things didn't go as planned,
Just know that you have all the qualities I want
in a man.
You're sweet,kind,gentle,passionate,affectionate,
and faithfully true,
I could never ask for anything more,
Because it's you baby that I adore!
I can't wait for the day, that we can walk, hand in
hand.
Down the beach,kicking sand.
And if the sun is setting...what a wonderful thing, that would be,
For us to make love near the sea.And as the sun is
settling,we're deeply indulged,in a love making
that's so intense.
Now that the sun has laid to rest, the moon has
awaken full and bright.
As we gaze into the sky resting,we are both wishing upon a star for our love to be everlasting.
For it is our "Heavenly Father",who sits up above,
He has given you to me to love.
Believing in his choices,I can't go wrong,
Trusting in him will make strong.
So,now that you know,that you're the man,
Ask me baby for my hand.
Now you know where our love lies,
United together,never saying our good-byes!!!!!!
Friend Is...
by Paris
A friend is someone we lean on,
When we are feeling weak.
A friend is someone who help's us,
Find what it is we seek.
A friend is someone who looks out for you,
In all they say and do.
A friend is someone you don't have to tell,
For they already knew.
A friend is someone who would,
Go that extra mile.
A friend is someone who show's us,
A heart that does truly smile.
A friend is someone who'll stand by you,
And help you through your day.
A friend is someone who'll show you,
There is always a way.
A friend is someone who'll dry your tears,
When you feel you have to cry.
A friend is someone who'll pull you through,
When the tide feels ever so high.
A friend is someone who'll be there,
Until the very end.
A friend is someone who'll show us,
How that broken heart they'll mend.
A friend is someone who give's us,
Understanding, Joy and Grace.
A friend is someone who makes this world,
Truly a wonderful place.
A Friend Is A Part of You Always and Forever
by Paula Spellman
Friendship is a special gift
given to us all.
The smile of a friend is sunlight on a cloudy day,
and every smile given to a friend is returned.
A friend is one whom you can talk to, and listen to, without judging.
A friend doesn't ignore your faults but accepts them as part of you.
A friend is a shoulder to lean on when you need support,
A pat on the back when you do well,
and a sympathetic ear when you fail.
A friend is a person you can laugh with about everything,
you can cry with without shame,
and whom you trust completely.
A friend is a partner in life and a part of you always and forever.

A Day Of Yearning
by Mark Varner
Dawn of morning light emerges
Like a restless unbound soul,
Illuminating the barren walls
Where darkness took it's toll.
Caressing my face with warmth
Lingering like a summer day,
Slowly my senses awaken
Bright sunbeams guide the way.
My first thought is as always
Your memory haunts my heart,
Another day passes without you
Languishing that we are apart.
My day starts much the same
Treading the moments of life,
Longing to hear your inner voice
And end this feeling of strife.
Eagerly rushing through the day
All tasks that must be done,
My heart cries out to be with you
To watch the setting sun.
If I could span the many miles
That seperate our love,
I'd soar across the vast blue sky
And land peaceful as a dove.
My heart always yearns the day
We no longer need be alone,
Until that time my ache will grow
For my love is cast in stone.

A Better One
by Ayesha Qureshi
I'm a different person.
A better one
Since we became friends.
Your honesty often helps me see my weaknesses,
And your support helps me turn them into strenghts.
Thank you for not saying the things
You think i want to hear
But saying the things i need to know.
You're one of very few people I trust and believe
When you tell me how well I've done
Because you are one of very few
Who will tell me when i could do better.
You challenge me to be the best me.
By accepting me and appreciating me.
You've helped me learn to accept and appreciate my self
To be a better one.

A Dream
by Mariana van der Westhuizen
It's 2 in the morning
And I can't sleep
So I was just wondering
If you would like to meet?
Yeah, I know it's not possible
With you being miles away
So I was thinking more in the
Line of meeting in your dream if I may?
Cause you see Angel,
The only time that I feel safe
Is when I'm in your arms. . .
So please say I may?
A Distant Star
by Warlocke
A Distant Star that reminds me of you,
Reminds me of how far it is between us two.
A Distant Star that shines so bright,
always ignites the darkness of night.
A Distant Star that Twinkles in the skies,
Reminds me of The Twinkles in your eyes.
A Distant Star thats so far away,
always Gives me the hope for a better day.
The Distant star thats so far away,
twinkles all night and day
Ignites the night with a bright light ray,
Can Only Be meant to say
That you're that distant Star....

Remember...
It's always you I'm thinking about,
always youI want to hold,
always you I need to touch.
Always the memories I cherish most,
are those of you.
Time goes by quickly in your arms,
only to crawl when we are apart.
Long days drag,
and the fantasies I make rarely
burn with lust and desire,
only fueled by deprivation and distance.
The afternoon sunshine is warm on my face,
but even butterflies that spread their wings around
me cannot take my mind off of you.
Touches I can't wait to feel,
soft caresses I long to give.
They only keep me in suspenseas time wears on.
The day's sunset blazes against a darkening sky
and I remember our inside jokes
and our long walksand your hand in mine.
Nights falls upon the world,
and my heart breaks even more.
Memories flood over me as the moon rises overhead,
casting its clean white light over me,
only to accentuate the emptiness next to me.
The stars rise and flicker above me,
I gaze up at them,
thinking of what sky you may be seeing.
I lay alone in my warm,
familiar bed,
talks from the past echoing through my mind.
I smile and close my eyes,
your soft voice calming me.
Missing you is delayed
as I lay in the night's darkness,
memories of you still linger about
in my sleepy mind.
I wish on every star each night,
already knowing that only the passage of time
would grant us each other,
once again.

A DISTANT LOVE
by VIVIAN CROOKS
i met you at the dawning of a new day
i really didnot know just what to say
your voice over the phone just sounded so right
that you really made me feel good and made my day so bright
as days went by i wondered how you look
and wondered what part you would play in my life's written book
for now only time and space will tell
but for us right now things are going so well
so maybe one day when you come home
my heart will find true love and won't have to roam
so good night my love and have a good sleep
for i hope in your heart my love will creep
so if you get lonely just look at the stars up above
you'll find me there watching over you with happiness and love
A Wish
by Tma
The moon and Stars are
bright and far
Just like the distance in
our hearts
The sky seems
so peacefulI feel to pray
I pray to make it through
another day
The brightness in the moon
reminds me of your eyes
The twinkle in the stars
makes me want to wish upon
a star
Maybe together we can
wish upon that star
And that wish will grant
our hearts to shine bright
and far
A Ballad to Loneliness
by Bryan J. Argos
Loneliness is
a child
spinning a top
on an abandoned sidewalk.
Loneliness is
a rose petal
that fell ona rock.
Loneliness is
the sun...
don't you think it's lonely?
Or the moon maybe?
Don't you think
it's lonely too?
But spare me the epitomes
of loneliness,
for if I were the sun
or the child,
the dog,
or the rose petal
Loneliness would be
a top spinning by the hand,
the sun shining for the world,
the moon glowing for the night,
and a rose petalfalling for
the ground...
Now, is this loneliness?

ALL MY LIFE
Author: Raven
It was not so long ago
when I thought I'd never meet someone like you.
Wrong was I, thinking I'm in control
Believing I'd never fall.
All my life I thought no one would
melt a heart like mine, a heart so cold,
a heart hardened by the past,
protected by shields so vast.
Slowly I was falling
without even knowing.
Only to find out too late
I have no choice but to accept my fate.
I could dream, I suppose
forever, I could hope
there will never be any 'us', that's our destiny
so I wake up to reality.
I lied when I said
I didn't love you,
that my feelings for you
are through.
I lied
not because I wanted to
but because I love you
and I still do.
I wouldn't do a thing to hurt you
but I just have to let go.
I can't hold on much longer
'coz for us there's no forever.

On a lake I'm drifting.
When a wind begins to blow my craft at will.
The moon silhouettes on the lake, the trees upon the
shore, and sounds of wildness pervade the skies.
While drifting on my boat, without oars.
Which heading should I take?
Possibilities satiate my head.
All in a feeble attempt, to preserve the self, within.
Yet in the end I must concede to the will of the wind.
For anything else is but a fallacy entertained.
Gazing into the water.
Distorted likenesses of my face I perceive.
Emotions of helplessness surmount me.
While drifting on this boat with merely me.
Somehow, I must surrender this kismet.
To the forces that eternally be.
While the wind blows upon the lake.
And the moon makes silhouettes of the trees.
I must descern the corporeality of life.
While on this lake, alone, with merely me.
For...Who has made the grass?
Who has made the dew?
Who has made the sand and hills?
Who has made the sky blue?
Who has made the flowers?
Who has made the trees?
Who has made the ocean and it's waves?
Who has made the breeze?
Who has made the clouds?
Who has made fruit on trees?
Who has made insects and birds?
Who has made grains?
Who has made animals?
Who has made this day?
Who creates all these things?
And who...Who gives them all away?
My words fall into a empty sky.
Simply to coalesce with the world of a passerby.
What is it which supports the sounds.
Making known feeling to those around.
I sat and watched as worlds combined.
I observed as saints began to shine.
For once worlds unto themselves,
they again return tothe reality of oneness.
Stayed by a force from within.
What is this dynamism where in they stay.
This love which ends the night of a lonely souls play.
Threading together as pearls on a string.
Reuniting as one, a divine being.
Written by Lori Lott
My life was changed
On that November day
When God, mysteriously
Took you away
There must have been
Other plans in store
There are those who needed
Your kindness more
But still I grieve
Crying all day long
I just can't fathom
That you are truly gone
My heart is broken
The sadness I can't hide
I've found it hard to cope
No matter how I've tried
You're in my thoughts
And I hope and pray
That we'll see each other
Again, some day
So, until that time
My son.........my friendI'll cherish the memories
Until we meet again

I AM WHAT I AM
I am what I am
I am my own special creation
So come take a look, give me the hookor the ovation.
It’s my world that I want to have a little pride in
My world and its not a place I have to hide in.
Life’s not worth a damn till you can say
Hey world --- I am what I am
I am what I am
I don’t want praise,
I don’t want pityI bang my own drum,
some think its noiseI think it’s pretty
And so what if I love each feather and each spangle
Why not try to see things from a different angle
Your life is a sham till you can shout out loud
I am what I am.
I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck, some the aces, sometimes the deuces.
There’s one life, and there’s no return and no deposit
One life so it’s time to open up your closets
Life’s not worth a damn till you can say
Hey world:I am what I am!
